Terms

Last updated 28 July 2026

The short version. Buy it once and use it on the computers you work on, for as long as you like, including commercially. Don't redistribute or resell it. Try it free for 72 hours first, because it is sold as-is and live production is your risk to manage.

These terms are an agreement between you and Colm Hewson, Ireland ("we", "us") covering the yewee software. By installing or using yewee you accept them.

1. Your licence

When you buy yewee we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to install and use it, including for commercial work such as paid events and client productions.

The licence is for you or your organisation, on computers you own or control. You may install it on more than one of your own machines and move it between them; a licence may be locked to a single machine only where that was stated at the time of purchase.

2. Free trial

yewee runs in full for 72 hours without a licence, so you can test it on your own hardware and workflow. When the trial ends the application keeps running but holds its video outputs on a notice slate until a licence key is entered. Please satisfy yourself that it does what you need during the trial.

3. What you may not do

Nothing here restricts what the law allows you to do regardless of these terms.

4. Updates

Updates within the version you bought are included. Significant new versions may be chargeable; if so we will say what is included before you buy. We are not obliged to keep producing updates indefinitely.

5. Other people's components

yewee includes third-party components — machine-learning models, the NDI runtime and open-source libraries — used under their own licences. Those licences are listed in the LICENSE file supplied with the software and continue to apply. NDI is a trademark of Vizrt NDI AB.

6. What yewee is not

yewee detects and follows faces. It does not identify people and performs no facial recognition. Do not present it as doing so, and do not rely on it for anything requiring identification, security or safety.

You are responsible for the footage you process and for complying with the law where you film, including privacy, data protection and any consent or signage your venue or client requires.

7. No warranty

yewee is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that detection will find every face, or that it will suit a particular purpose. Detection quality depends on your camera, lighting, framing and hardware.

Live production. Software fails, hardware fails, and shows are unforgiving. Test your full chain before doors, and keep a fallback for anything that must not go dark. Please do not put yewee on a critical output without having proved it in your own rig first.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, revenue, data, bookings or goodwill, arising from your use of yewee — including any failure, interruption or defect during a live event.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the software. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing affects the statutory rights of a consumer.

9. Payment and refunds

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record; their terms apply to the transaction and any tax is handled by them.

Because a full 72-hour trial is available before purchase, we ask you to use it. If something is genuinely wrong, email colly@letissier.ie and we will deal with it fairly. Consumers in the EU keep any statutory right of withdrawal that applies to them.

10. Ending the licence

Your licence ends if you materially breach these terms — for example by redistributing the software. You may stop using yewee at any time and remove the licence from your machines in the control panel.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.

12. Changes

We may update these terms for future purchases; the version you agreed to at the time of your purchase continues to apply to that purchase. The date at the top shows when this page last changed.
