Privacy
The short version. The yewee application runs entirely on your own computer. It does not identify anyone, does not store or transmit video or images, and does not contact us — including when you activate a licence. The only personal data we hold comes from buying the software or emailing us.
Who we are
yewee is produced by Colm Hewson, Ireland. For anything on this page, contact colly@letissier.ie.
What the application does with video
yewee finds and follows faces in a live video feed so it can draw graphics and produce video outputs. It is important to be precise about what that does and does not involve:
- It performs face detection and tracking — locating that a face is present and following it while it remains in shot.
- It does not perform facial recognition. It cannot identify a person, does not create or store a biometric template, and holds no database to compare anyone against.
- The optional expression labels are a transient cosmetic estimate drawn onto the picture. They are never recorded.
- Video frames are processed in memory and discarded. yewee writes no images or video to disk and sends none over the internet.
Video outputs go where you send them — over NDI on your local network, or to Syphon/Spout applications on the same computer. That traffic never reaches us.
If you use yewee to process footage of people, you decide what is filmed and what happens to the output, and you are responsible for meeting your own obligations for that footage. We never receive it, so we are neither a controller nor a processor of it.
Licence activation
Licence keys are verified offline, on your machine, using cryptography built into the application. Activating a licence sends nothing to us and works on a computer with no internet connection at all. The application stores your licence key and a locally generated machine identifier on your own computer so it can remember that it is activated.

Buying yewee
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, who act as the merchant of record and are the data controller for the checkout. They collect what a sale requires — name, email address, payment details and the location data needed for tax — and we never see your card details. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
From a completed purchase we keep a record of your name, email address and order reference, together with the licence key issued to you. We use it to send you your key and to help if you need it re-sent or moved to another machine. We do not use it for marketing and do not share or sell it.
If you email us we keep the correspondence so we can deal with your enquiry and refer back to it later.
How long we keep things
Purchase records and issued licence keys are kept for as long as the licence is valid, and afterwards where tax law requires it. Email is kept while it remains useful for support.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, or object to how we use it. Email colly@letissier.ie and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
